Look to the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina for a refreshing and revitalizing weekend or longer get-away. For a truly elevated experience you must try Asheville, NC’s remarkable Bunn House.

Asheville, NC’s Bunn House – Hospitality Reinvented

With its exposed brick honoring the original 1905 brick maker/owner Albert, The Bunn House thrills us with its impeccable restoration, slew of surprises and high end everything, The Bunn House boutique hotel elevates all notions of the classic bed and breakfast combining historic charm with a heady mix of cutting edge luxury and innovation.

As you enter, you’ll begin to feel the spell of the place, perhaps due to the white sound machine in every room, the zephyr-inspired Haiku ceiling fans and the Lavender pillow mister, and sustained, no doubt, by both the one hundred year old walls and the air of engaging hospitality that manifests in so many magical ways throughout your stay. Nestled in historic Montford just a short walk or Huber ride to downtown this state-of-the-art and magnificently conceived boutique hotel is an extraordinary find – it virtually reinvents hospitality, jettisoning the bar to a nearly transcendent level.

So here are your options: Stay in watch the high-tech interactive flat screen on your custom made mattress and under Italian duvet and bed linens, bask frequently in your room’s heated floor bathroom with super luxe steam room shower (our skin was noticeably luminous at the time of our regretful departure), languish on your balcony or patio, watch the stars from your rooftop terrace or walk out of the gas lit lanterned gates to some of Asheville’s plentiful and bountiful eateries.

These include Plant, a world class and raved about totally vegan feastery for the omnivore with craft beers and biodynamic wines as well. Here Chef Jason Sellers amps up the taste thrills that intensify with each increasingly inventive course. It was fun to compare another raw dish (the Spanish-Pesto Manicotti) from the illustrious Laughing Seed Cafe, another super delicious healthy vegetarian eatery with an organic, local farm to table international menu. The relatively new Blue Dream Curry House’s creamy, dreamy flavorful and really reasonable Thai, Korean and Indian curries, crunchy pickled peanuts and salads came highly recommended.. For soulful, hearty and heartfelt Italian try not to miss the newly opened renovated church with its homemade fresh daily pasta and nourishing, flavorful soups, breads and desserts (wittily called “Amens”) at the neighboring and neighborly Chiesa .

Things to Do and See

From the Bunn House, you’re just a block from the outstanding Grayline Trolley Tours  where Matt will captivate you with this fascinating town’s history and architecture. For a splurge stay an extra night in the midst of all things Vanderbilt at the festive Biltmore Inn which captures the Biltmorean aesthetic beautifully. By all means, you must do the Biltmore House, one of the Gilded Age’s most memorable and America’s most astounding historic homes and cascading gardens. Be sure to also amble through the beguiling NC Arboretum Gardens that will cap off your Asheville adventure sublimely.
