| The only spa in the U.S. with its very own sommelier certified by the Court of Master Sommeliers in London England, New York’s Caudalie (pronounced ko-da-lee - accent on the first syllable) Vinotherapy Spa is a must for any wine-loving spa-goers looking to take advantage of the grape’s scientifically acknowledged anti-oxidant properties. Located on the 4th floor of the Fairmont Plaza Hotel, Caudalie - the name is a wine industry term of quality - is a stylish, handsomely decorated spa. A nod to nature in the middle of an urban forest, the design offers earthy tones, elements and incorporates original wood carvings created to resemble vines.
There’s a full menu of services ranging in price from $45 U.S. for a manicure to $965 U.S. for the Di-Vine Love Ritual for Two. One popular signature treatment is the Cabernet Scrub - a 50-minute body treatment where whole grape seeds are mixed with grape seed oil, honey, brown sugar and lotion from the Caudalie line of products. then the mixture is used to scrub the body to remove dry skin. A wrap follows to allow skin to absorb nutrients from the seeds. Â
All treatments are followed with an offer of a glass of fine Bordeaux wine - from the owners’ own vineyard - offered and described by sommelier Cliff Rames as guests relax in the spacious French Paradox Lounge. Wines are also sold by the glass and paired with a selection of light food options.Â
